How often should gutters be cleaned in Indiana?
Indiana homes need two gutter cleanings a year, for leaves and spring freeze.
Toward Evansville and the southern part of the state, the standard window is November, once oak, hackberry, elm and sycamore have dropped their leaves, and May, after the spring hail and storm season passes. Wind and hail during that spring stretch push extra debris into the run.
Up toward Fort Wayne and the northeast, the freeze arrives earlier, so cleaning shifts to early November ahead of the hard freeze and lake-effect snow, then again in May once maple, oak, ash and cottonwood finish seeding. Keeping the downspouts open before that first freeze protects the whole run.
Statewide, ice dams from a hard freeze in the north and wind-driven hail in the south are what a neglected gutter cannot handle, which is why gutter maintenance timed to both windows keeps water off the fascia and foundation.

Who is responsible
